If your heart belongs to this beautiful city, then this would be a great piece of art for your apartment. All you need is a map of Chicago, white paper, and a frame. Cut the paper into a heart, or any shape you desire. Then place it over the Chicago map and frame it. It's that simple, and you'll be able to show your love for the city.
Transit String Map
Do you use the El as your transportation everywhere? This is the perfect art work that won't only look cool, but also help you know your train options. For this DIY you'll need the different color strings (representing the different color trains), tacks, and a canvas. Then look up a transit map and follow along using the tacks to hold the string. If you want to get super creative, you can paint the Chicago map or the different stops onto the canvas. You will know the transit map like the back of your hand if you create this DIY.
Poster Letters
Home is where the heart is, and our heart is in Chicago. You can create these really cute letters with vintage Chicago posters on them. All you need is mod podge, block letters that spell out anything you want, and then look up vintage posters of Chicago online and print them out. Then cut the posters into the size of the letters. Put the mod podge onto one side of the letter and cover it with a poster. Then do a coat of mod podge over the poster to give it a finishing look. You can hang these letters on your wall or have them standup on a shelf. They would go perfectly in a vintage apartment.
